Chef Ratliff has earned several high ranked pastry certifications: WCMPC (World Certified Master Pastry Chef), CMB (Certified Master Baker) and CEPC (Certified Executive Pastry Chef).
In 2006, Matthew started competing in nationally ranked pastry competitions.
• Winner of Food Network “Sugar Impossible” Challenge by creating a 5-foot-tall science fiction scene out of sugar.
• Winner of Food Network “Flying Sugar” Challenge by creating a “fantasy flying machine” out of sugar.
• Two-time winner and best in show “The Florida Pastry Challenge” with Gold Medals
• Winner of “Sugar Domes Extreme Amusement Park Rides”
• Gold medal “St. Augustine Culinary Salon Chocolate Showpiece”
• Winner of “Regional Pastry Chef of the Year” through the ACF
• Silver Medal Chesapeake Bay ACF Culinary Salon “Sugar Piece”
• Second Place Florida Restaurant Show
• Appeared on Food Network “Sugar Destinations” and “Sweet Genius”
• Fourth place at the U.S. Pastry Competition
