
John Lupo
John Lupo founded Grandma’s Bakery in 1978. He became a Certified Master Baker in 1989. John grew a small donut shop with five employees into a full line retail and wholesale bakery with 150 employees in the Minneapolis St. Paul area.
John is a former President of the Minnesota Bakers Association and former President of the Retail Bakers of America. He is currently on the Board of Directors.
Over the years Grandma’s Bakery has received many awards from several area Chambers of Commerce for small business excellence and John personally as business person of the year. In 2017 John conceived the idea for and founded National Bakery Day. In 2022 he retired and sold Grandma’s Bakery as he celebrated his 44th Anniversary in business.
In retirement he continues to volunteer in local community groups. In 2024 John was named Volunteer of the Year in his hometown of White Bear Lake.
